Rodney Palmer, 49, of Lakeview, was charged with a felony count of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, along with a count of child endangering and driving under suspension following an incident Friday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department who were on patrol in the area of Township Road 239 and U.S. Route 33 about 10:50 p.m. initiated a traffic stop with his pickup for turn signal and marked lane violations.
Palmer reportedly showed signs of intoxication. He took and failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for OVI.
Once at the jail, Mr. Palmer submitted to a breath test and tested 0.146. The defendant has 12 previous OVI convictions. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The child endangering charge stems from his 6 year old child being in the vehicle with him when being stopped, officers report. He also was cited for a marked lanes violation and a turn signal violation.
• Nicholas Phillips, 25, of Bellefontaine, was charged with OVI and was cited for a marked lanes violation following a traffic stop about 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
Officers initiated a traffic stop with his vehicle for marked lane violations in the area of State Route 366 and Township Road 94.
Phillips reportedly showed signs of intoxication. He performed field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for OVI.
The defendant refused to submit to a breath test once at the jail. He was released to a sober driver.
