Benjamin Logan’s track and field teams both took third out of 13 teams in the Raider Invitational on Friday.
Celina won the boys meet with 133.16 points. Jonathan Alder took second with 127.33 and the Raiders had 82.5. Riverside finished 10th with 21 and Calvary Christian was 12th with 13 points.
First-place finishes for the Ben Logan boys team went to Collin Powell in the long jump (PR of 20-4.5), Evan Carpenter in the pole vault (11-6 when stopped by rain/wind) and the 800 relay team of Powell, Ben Chamberlain, Carter Buck and Dylan Vance (PR of 1:34.17).
The Raiders’ 1,600 relay tam of Dylan Vance, Eric Hughes, Tyler Shoopman and Chamberlain placed second (PR of 3:35.83), while third-place performances came from Roman Maxwell in the high jump (5-6), Grashyn Bailey in the pole vault (11-0), Chamberlain in the 400 (PR of 53.05) and the 400 relay team of Powell, Chamberlain, Vance and Candin Tucker (45.58).
Taking fourth for the BL boys were Hughes in the 1,600 (PR of 4:56.61) and the 3,200 relay team of (Tyler Shoopman, Eli Rhodes, Owen Weeks and Hughes (PR of 8:57.16).
Taking sixth were Carter Buck in the 110 hurdles (18.06) and Powell in the 200 (PR of 23.92), finishing seventh are Carter Buck in the 300 hurdles (45.49), Vance in the 200 (PR of 24.17) and the 800 relay of Davis Matthews, Gavin Troth, Hunter Andrix and Cason Bothel (PR of 1:40.75) and taking eighth were Gus Bibart in the shot put (PR of 42-6.5) and the 400 relay team of Josh Rich, Andrix, Troth and Bothel (48.88).
Jonathan Alder won the girls meet with 148 points. Celina was second (112) and the Raiders were third with 103.
Calvary Christian finished 10th with nine points and Riverside was 13th with one point.
Winning events for the Raider girls were Isabel Henderson in the 100 hurdles (15.91), 300 hurdles (48.31), 100 (12.88) and long jump (16-09.75).
Taking second for the Lady Raiders were Kate Gulick in the 100 hurdles (17.06), Georgia Bates in the 800 (2:25.79), Lauren Hemmelgarn in the discus (101-05) and Nora Elliott in the pole vault (9-06).
Finishing in third for BL was Scarlett Elliott in the pole vault (9-06) and Abby Vance in the high jump (4-08), while taking fourth were the 3,200 relay team of Lexi Archer, Mylee Boysel, Hadley Boysel and Bates (10:47.57), Bates in the 1,600 (5:46.49) and the 1,600 relay of Ella Chamberlain, Mya Burrey, Mylee Boysel and Bates (4:28.13).
Taking fifth for Ben Logan were the 800 relay team of Chamberlain, Burrey, Storm LeVan and Kate Vickroy (1:55.52), the 400 relay team of Gulick, Avah Miller, LeVan and Vickroy (54.44), Gulick in the 300 hurdles (51.82) and Hemmelgarn in the shot put
(31-02.50). Miller was sixth in the 300 hurdles and seventh in the 100 hurdles (13.38), Vance finished seventh in the long jump (15-01) and seventh in the 100 (13.96), Peyton Smith was seventh in the 1,600 (5:58.64) and Kaylee Hays finished eighth in the discus (87-03).
Spartans compete at Raider Invite
Leading the Calvary Christian girls team Friday at the Raider Invitational was Anastacia Rogan, who was fourth in the long jump (school record of 15-7), fifth in the 200 (school record of 28.69) and ninth in the 100.
Abigail Reinhard placed sixth in the 100 hurdles, ninth in the shot put (school record of 28-10) and ninth in the 300 hurdles.
For the boys team, the 1,600 relay team of Elias Peterson, Christian Rogan, John Gaertner and Clay Howard placed fifth in a school-record time of 3:43.86.
Howard was fifth in the 200, John Gaertner was seventh in the high jump, eighth in the 800 and eighth in the 1,600, Howard took eighth in the 400 and Charles Krumm was ninth in the 100.
