Michael Gene “Mike” Bauman, 59, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 21, 2022 at his residence due to an unfortunate accident.
Mike was born September 26, 1962 in Delaware, Ohio, the son of Gene & Marcia (Bauman) Courter. Mike graduated from Delaware Haye High School in 1980. After graduation, Mike went into the workforce and began working for Honda Manufacturing. After a number of years there, he realized he was not fulfilling his dream, so he went to college. Mike studied at Columbus State, and received his Associates Degree in Landscape Architect/Engineering.
After receiving his degree, he established himself in Landscaping and Patio Design. He worked for the past 9.5 years at 9 Trees Landscape Construction, where he was a group leader. Often times his boss calling him “Magic Mike” for his ability to fix, or create what the customer wanted. Mike was proud of his work, and was a real handyman.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Gene Bauman, grandparents Ralph Courter & Rachel (Courter) Hall, Louise (Bauman) VanBrimmer, Glenn Bauman, aunt Carol Courter; special nephew Brandon Wade, and cousin Joy (McAfee) Lea.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Brooke Bauman, Erica (Bauman) Hunt (Kiel), Levi (Carrie) Bauman, Treyton Bauman, Mercedes Bauman. Grandchildren Kane Guider, Ender and Juniper Hunt, Chanel, Roman, Vienna, and Sterling Bauman; mother Marcia ( Bauman) Courter; brothers Phil (Bauman) Born (Beth), and Doug (Bauman) Born (Angie); sisters Amy (Bauman) Sampson (TJ), and Kathy (Bauman) Troilo (Mark); uncles Steve Courter, Frank (Bauman) Terri, and Marion Bauman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
When Mike wasn’t working, he was spending time with his family. Mike was a family man through and through. He enjoyed having his mom cook for him, because he missed her cooking, especially spaghetti and her Chili. Mike was also quite skilled in the kitchen himself, between baking, and cooking. He was a strong mentor to his children, and a leader, not only at work, but at home. Mike enjoyed running, golfing, fishing, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. He had a room in his house dedicated to The Ohio State Buckeyes. Mike was known for his extensive watch collection, and could watch the Invicta channel constantly without getting bored.
Those that were close to Mike will remember him as the loving, caring, dependable, sweet, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and coworker that he was, with a smile that could light up the room.
