The Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties approved a $3.5 million annual budget Tuesday as the organization and its partners gear up to ask voters in the fall to continue to support its operating levy.
The budget, which is for the fiscal year that runs from July 1 through June 30, 2017, is down from the current $4.8 million budget, which included $1.1 million in one-time state grant money for recovery housing projects in Bellefontaine and Urbana, Executive Director David Higgins reported.
The money is used to support various community agencies that deal directly with individuals with substance abuse and mental health issues, preventative and intervention measures in the local school systems and housing assistance programs for those in need.
