A Bellefontaine man and his mother were arrested Wednesday after a 3:05 p.m. incident in the 100 block of west Williams Avenue.
Officers were called to the area regarding a man in the street yelling.
They found Devon Miller, 18, of 107 W. Williams Ave., in the street agitated. He told them, “I have a dream” and that “I’ll stand tall for what I believe in and I will not fold.”
During the interaction, Miller walked into the street into the path of an approaching vehicle and he ignored orders to return to the sidewalk. The vehicle was operated by his mother, Karen Miller, 39, of the same address.
She exited the vehicle and reportedly said, “Just take his a** to jail, I’m done.”
The son continued to yell and officers moved to arrest him.
He resisted and was taken to the ground. He kneed one officer in the groin.
The mother than approached the tussle and ignored four orders to back away.
Other officers arrived and both were taken into custody.
The son was charged with resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and disorderly conduct. The mother was charged with obstructing official business.
At the Logan County Jail, the 18-year-old remained combative and was placed in a restraint chair, stating, “You’re afraid of me because Satan is afraid of me.”
A video of the arrest was posted to social media by witnesses.
