SMITH |
David Charles Smith, 29, of East Liverpool, was charged with burglary and was lodged in the Logan County Jail related to an incident that occurred Saturday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 3:30 p.m. to the area of 9822 Township Road 161, North Lewisburg, to assist Champaign County Sheriff’s Office deputies with a suspicious person complaint.
Champaign County deputies advised they had received a complaint about a suspicious man in the area of the Logan-Champaign county line, and located Smith on foot about 100 yards into Logan County.
Smith reportedly told deputies that he was on his way home and that he lived on T.R. 161. Deputies gave him a ride to his supposed residence at 9822 T.R. 161, and Smith entered an enclosed portion of the home and proceeded toward a secondary door that was locked. He then stated he did not have a key to the residence nor a way to enter the home.
Deputies determined the identity of the homeowner of the property and contacted her. She said she did not know Smith and he did not have permission to be on her property, and she wanted to press charges.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
