Andrew S. Keller, 29, of 7606 Edgewater Ave., Huntsville, was charged with disrupting public services, felonious assault and domestic violence as a result of an incident early Saturday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 4:15 a.m. to his address on a report of a possible domestic dispute.
Keller’s live-in girlfriend was visibly distraught when deputies arrived, and she informed them that he had attempted to strangle her. She then tried to call the authorities for help, but he then allegedly took her phone and broke it.
Deputies observed that she had sustained red marks on both sides of her neck, and also found her cell phone that had been damaged.
The defendant’s girlfriend also told deputies her 2-year-old son witnessed the altercation.
Deputies also asked Keller if he had sustained any injuries and observed that he had minor discoloration to his face. He was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Driver charged with OVI
David J. Shirey, 56, of 13161 Township Road 220, Rushsylvania, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
Deputies on patrol in the area of State Route 235 and State Route 117 observed Shirey’s vehicle make several marked lanes violations and initiated a stop after the vehicle turned from S.R. 117 to State Route 273.
While speaking with the driver, Shirey, deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication. He said he’d had “two to three” alcoholic beverages that evening.
He submitted to field sobriety testing, and then was placed under arrest. At the Bellefontaine Police Department, he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.150 blood alcohol content. He was released to a family member.
No injuries reported in crash involving farm equipment
Deputies responded to a report of a non-injury crash about 11:45 a.m. Sunday on Township Road 200 involving a sport utility vehicle and farm equipment hauling tandem bean drills.
Royce A. Link, 33, of Bellefontaine, reportedly was operating the westbound farm equipment near County Road 32. Bonnie L. Linville, 56, of Bellefontaine, was operating an eastbound SUV and stopped in the roadway to let the farm equipment pass.
However, the lead bean drill that extended over the center line struck the front left side of her vehicle, causing heavy damage.
Link was cited for a marked lanes violation.
