Kenneth Earl McNeal, 52, of Lakeview, was charged with identity fraud, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident Wednesday afternoon.
About 5:30 p.m., officers of the Washington Township Police Department were providing traffic control for the recovery process from an earlier accident involving two semi tractor-trailers at US Route 33 and Township Road 94.
Officers spotted a pick up truck slide off into the ditch on T.R. 94. Officers approached the driver of the pick up to assist. The driver provided officers with a social security number and the name “Phillip McNeal.”
A passenger was identified as Bradley Alsbury, 23, of Ada. Officers observed the odor of raw marijuana coming from both the driver and passenger of the vehicle. A consent search was granted.
Inside the vehicle, officers located a tin can sitting beside the driver’s seat containing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Officers also located a bag of marijuana and a marijuana bowl on Bradley’s person.
The identification provided by McNeal did not match McNeal’s physical description. McNeal struggled to provide his correct birthdate.
McNeal eventually told officers his real name was Kenneth Earl McNeal and stated he lied because he was not a valid driver. He was transported to the Logan County Jail. He also was cited for no operator’s license, driving under suspension and failure to control.
Alsburg was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana and was released from the scene.
• Following investigation into the previously reported crash Wednesday involving the two semis, officers said Eugene Vlad, 51, of Monicello, Ill., was cited for driving left of center.
Officers report Vlad was operating an eastbound semi hauling a large piece of farming equipment about 11:25 a.m. when he traveled went left of center on U.S. 33 and struck a westbound semi and trailer.
Vlad was transported from the scene to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
