Daniel G. Miller, 32, of 228 N. Madriver St., Bellefontaine, was charged with conveyance of a drug into a detention facility at the Logan County Jail after he was served a warrant during a traffic stop Saturday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office conducted the stop about 9:15 p.m. in the area of U.S. Route 68 near Green Hills Community, 6557 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, for a non-functioning license plate light.
While speaking with the driver, Miller, deputies noticed that he appeared nervous and said that he was sweating on his forehead and neck. Deputies also observed a faint odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He told deputies that there might be a few marijuana roaches inside the vehicle.
After running Miller’s information, deputies found that he had an active warrant for contempt of court and placed him under arrest. A West Liberty Police officer also responded to the scene for back up.
The defendant was transported to the jail. In the sally port of the jail, corrections officers asked him if he had any illegal substances and he stated that he did not. During the booking process inside the jail, corrections officers reportedly located a baggie of suspected marijuana that he had hidden in his boxer briefs.
Pair charged with assault
Timothy D. McGlocklin, 46, and Heidi M. Rayburn, 40, both of Ashley, each were charged with assault Friday after an incident at 11007 State St., Lakeview.
Deputies responded to the residence about 3:50 p.m. and met with Rayburn, who informed them that McGlocklin had been following her the residence throughout the day, calling her derogatory names and also disturbing her while she was trying to work from her work computer.
She said he then began overturning furniture and throwing items toward her, including a knife, which reportedly became stuck in a wall at the home. Rayburn also said he grabbed her from behind, threw her to the ground and began kicking and hitting her.
McGlocklin provided deputies with a similar story, except he said Rayburn had been the one turning over furniture and following him around the residence. He also said Rayburn had shoved the kitchen stove toward him, causing injury to his left index finger.
Deputies stated the entire property was in disarray, and included a house that was rotting due to not having a complete roof, a camper that was missing an entire wall and another outbuilding without running water or electricity, where Rayburn said they had been staying.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and lodged in the jail.
• Jolene M. McGarvey, 64, of 9143 Gross Drive, Lakeview, was charged with criminal trespass, persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest as a result of an incident Saturday evening at Froggy’s at the Lake, 11065 Township Road 293, Lakeview.
Deputies working a detail at the establishment about 8:45 p.m. reportedly had asked McGarvey and another woman to leave the premises after a verbal dispute. However, about two minutes later, deputies said McGarvey re-entered the bar.
She was asked to leave the premises again, but continued to refuse, telling deputies she thought the other woman was still outside in the parking lot. Deputies scanned the parking lot and told her that it appeared the other woman had gone home.
The defendant continued to refuse deputies’ requests for her to exit the establishment and then she resisted deputies’ initial attempts to place her under arrest. She was transported to the jail.
