The Logan County Courthouse and the Logan County Juvenile Detention Facility provided a true-to-life setting Friday for an in-depth and hands-on training to enhance the skills of a number of Logan County Sheriff’s Office personnel.
Throughout the afternoon, deputies, bailiffs, and courthouse security officers participated in the training detailing room clearing, building searches and responding to emergencies.
The class was instructed and presented by certified instructors, Sgt. Steve Sines and Detective Mike Brugler of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Staff members learned ideal methods of single-officer response to emergencies that included the fastest and most effective methods, officials said.
Class members participated in real life scenarios during the multiple exercises.
After instruction and walk-through exercises, staff members were equipped with training firearms and ran through “shoot” and “don’t shoot” scenarios with cardboard targets. Following each scenario, participants were critiqued on their response, method and target accuracy.
