The Logan Soil and Water Conservation District conducts an election for two supervisor positions at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Winner’s Harvest Barn.
Any resident of Logan County 18 years of age or older can seek election.
There are two ways that names can be placed on the ballot.
• Candidates can be nominated by the Logan SWCD nominating committee. This committee consists of several individuals who look for candidates who are interested in soil and water conservation and the protection of natural resources in Logan County.
• Individuals who are interested in running for Logan SWCD Supervisor positions may stop by the Logan SWCD office, 324 County Road 11, Bellefontaine, to pick up a nomination form. The petition must have 10 signatures from Logan County residents and/or landowners. Petitions must be returned to the Logan SWCD office by noon Wednesday, July 27. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and deadline will be listed on the ballot for the election at the annual meeting.
Soil and Water Conservation Districts, located in all 88 counties, are legal subdivisions of state government that provide natural resource management assistance to county landowners and other units of government.
The districts are governed by a five-member board of elected county residents. Board members serve staggered three-year terms and are not paid for their positions as board members.
