Lena M. Walker, 94, of Lima, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Lena was born July 14, 1923, in Lima, to the late Pietro and Maria Sciortino Madonia. On Aug. 23, 1947, she married Robert C. Walker who preceded her in death May 11, 2013.
Lena graduated from St. Johns High School in 1940. She attended Frederick Beauty Academy and eventually landed a job at The Leader Beauty Salon. In her later years she took a job with Fenmark where she worked in the office dealing with inventory control.
Lena was a long-time member of St. John’s Catholic Church, where she donated her time in the choir, monthly breakfast committee, funeral luncheons and Altar-Rosary Society. She was also a life member of the VFW Post 1275. Her favorite hobbies included playing cards, gardening, camping and fishing.
Lena is survived by her son, Larry Walker of Bellefontaine; siblings, Frank (Carol) Madonia and Rosemary Pierce, both of Lima.
She also was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Walker; sister, Josephine Clementz; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Walker.
A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lima with Father David Ross officiating.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Shawnee Chapel.
