Indian Lake’s softball team rallied and then held off visiting Greeneview for a 7-5 win Wednesday in a Division III sectional tournament opener.
The sixth-seeded Lakers (13-12) move on to face second-seeded Arcanum in a sectional semifinal Monday at Versailles High School. The 13th-seeded Rams exit the tournament at 9-14.
Indian Lake and Greeneview each scored a run in the first inning, but the Lakers drove in two runs in the second inning to pull ahead 3-1.
Greeneview was able to pile up four runs in the top of the third inning for a brief 5-3 lead, but Indian Lake scored four runs of its own in the bottom of the frame. That gave them back a 7-5 advantage.
The Rams were unable to get any offense going until the top of the seventh inning when they rallied for two runs. That knotted the score at 7-7.
Greeneview carried its momentum into extra innings and plated a run in the top of the eight to take an 8-7 lead.
Indian Lake loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth with no outs. Claire Young hit a two-run single to bring in Reece Martin and Madison Brentlinger to score and give their team a 9-8 win.
Brentlinger sparked the Laker offense by going 2-3 with a triple and two RBI, Hailey Talbot hit a double, Young had two RBI, while Kyleigh Huffer and Allix Cotterman each had an RBI.
In the pitching circle, Lexi Lones earned the win with four strikeouts.

Pirates blank Commodores
Riverside’s softball team rolled past host Lima Perry 13-0 in five innings on Wednesday during a Northwest Central Conference game.
The Pirates are now 12-13 on the season.
Riverside raced out to a 10-0 lead after two innings. The Pirates added runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to build a 13-0 cushion.
Alaina Snow led the charge for Riverside by throwing a two-hitter in the pitching circle with 10 strikeouts. She also went 3-4 with an RBI.
Offensively, Sierra Snow went 2-4 with two doubles and four RBI, Jenna Woods went 3-4 with a double, Jade Copas went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI, Kylee Angle had one RBI, Malina Kreglow went 2-4 and Olivia Perk added two RBI.

Raiders rally past Cougars
Benjamin Logan’s softball team rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to stun visiting Kenton Ridge 11-10 on Tuesday in a Central Buckeye Conference and regular season finale.
The Raiders battled their way back to tie the game 10-10 in the bottom of the seventh inning and Eilliott Bailey hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to bring in a run and give her team the 11-10 win.
Ben Logan is now 19-8 on the season and finish 10-6 in the CBC, while the Cougars slip to 15-12, 9-7.
The Raiders built a 7-4 lead after five innings, but the Cougars plated six runs in the top of the sixth inning to jump in front 10-7. Ben Logan scored a run in the bottom of the sixth frame to trail 10-8.
A dramatic final inning saw Ben Logan score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.
For the Raider offense, Lynzee Cronkleton went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI, Bailey hit a double with three RBI, Brooks Meyers went 2-2 with a double and an RBI, Ryelle Gibson went 2-4 with two RBI, Jenn Naragon went 2-4 with an RBI, Jillian Plikerd went 2-4 and Gretchen Wilber added an RBI.
Kayla Martin picked up the win in the pitching circle.

Braves clip Lakers
Indian Lake’s softball team came up short in a 2-1 loss to visiting Springfield Shawnee on Tuesday in a Central Buckeye Conference and regular season finale.
The Lakers are now 12-12 on the season and finish 5-11 in the CBC Mad River division. The Braves improve to 18-3, 12-3.
After four scoreless innings, Shawnee squeezed out a run in the fifth inning and another run in the sixth inning for a 2-0 lead.
Indian Lake was able to score one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but couldn’t get any closer to the Braves.
Offensively for the Lakers, Kyleigh Huffer went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI, Hailey Talbot went 2-4 and Allix Cotterman added a double.

Ridgemont downs W-Goshen
Ridgemont’s softball team dropped visiting Waynesfield-Goshen 12-8 on Wednesday during a Northwest Central Conference meeting.
The Gophers pulled away from the Tigers after three innings to lead 8-5. Both teams scored three runs in the fourth inning, leaving Ridgemont on top 12-8. The Gophers held onto that lead for the rest of the game.
Braxton Thomas went 4-4 with a double and three RBI to power the Gopher offense, Hannah Shoffner went 2-4, Amber Nichols, Nikki Freshcorn and Amanda Howland all had an RBI.
Whitney Bailey picked up the win in the pitching circle with six strikeouts.
