Indian Lake Elementary second-grader Mya Schroeder leads a pack of runners during a game of “Stop & Go” at the first session of Little Lakers Running Club, which recently began its second year. More than 125 first- through sixth-graders are taking part in this program designed to get young students interested in running. “We had about 90 runners last year, and even more are coming this year. We’re very excited to get these kids in running shape,” said ILHS cross country coach Kristen Glink. The school’s cross country coaches and runners facilitate the Running Club. Little Lakers stayed after school for the first time on Monday, and were split into groups by grade level to play games and try an easy run. Running Club meets from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Monday Sept. 24, and Monday, Oct. , and wraps up with a Little Laker Mile Fun Run at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8. (PHOTO | INDIAN LAKE SCHOOLS)
