Bellefontaine’s softball team came up a run short Wednesday as visiting Kenton Ridge emerged with a 2-1 victory in a Central Buckeye Conference game.
The Chiefs fall to 10-12 overall and 5-10 in the CBC. The Cougars improve to 15-11, 9-6.
Both teams scored a run in the second inning. Kenton Ridge then added a run in the fourth inning and held on the rest of the way for the win.
Bellefontaine was limited to four hits. Averie Vigansky had a double and Jenna Smith, Lindsay Heminger and Alexza Clifton each added a hit.
Bellefontaine plays at Northmont today.

Lakers knock off North Union
Indian Lake’s softball team picked up a big win Wednesday, beating visiting North Union 4-3 in a Central Buckeye Conference game.
The Lakers move to 12-11 overall and 5-10 in the CBC.
North Union, currently the leader of the Mad River division, falls to 17-6, 10-4.
The Wildcats jumped out with three runs in the top of the first inning.
However, the Lakers answered with one run in the bottom of the third and two in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3.
Indian Lake then scored the game-winning run on a Kyleigh Huffer triple in the bottom of the seventh.
Madison Brentlinger earned the win in the pitching circle. She allowed two earned runs and scattered six hits.
Brentlinger also had a good day with the bat, going 3-4 with a double, triple and one RBI.
Indian Lake is back in action today at home against Fairbanks.

Raiders dodge Falcons
Benjamin Logan’s softball team defeated visiting Graham 8-4 in a Central Buckeye Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
The Raiders are now 16-7 overall and 8-6 in the CBC. The Falcons slip to 13-11, 4-9.
Ben Logan took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and increased its lead to 3-0 in the third frame.
The Falcons scored a run in the top of the fourth to make it 3-1, but Ben Logan came back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 7-1 advantage.
The Falcons scored three times in the top of the sixth, making the score 7-4.
Ben Logan added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Raiders are back in action Friday at home against Kenton Ridge.

Riverside routs W-Goshen
Riverside’s softball team blitzed host Waynesfield-Goshen 20-2 in five innings in a Northwest Central Conference game Wednesday.
Alaina Snow went 4-5 with a home run and three RBI to spark the Pirates.
Also for Riverside, Malaina Jenkins went 3-3 with three RBI, Jade Copas went 4-4 with four RBI and Malina Kreglow went 2-2 with a home run.
Alaina Snow was the winning pitcher. She allowed just three hits and struck out 11.

West Jefferson blanks Tigers
West Jefferson shut out visiting West Liberty-Salem 4-0 in Ohio Heritage Conference softball action Wednesday.
With the loss, the Tigers drop to 13-10 overall and 9-6 in the OHC. West Jefferson is now 12-7, 12-3.
West Jefferson scored two runs in the first inning and added two more in the third inning.
The Tigers were limited to just three hits. Aubrey Williams had a triple to lead the way.

Elgin downs Ridgemont
Marion Elgin shut down Ridgemont 11-0 in five innings in a Northwest Central Conference softball game Wednesday.
Amber Roth struck out 10 and limited the Gophers to one hit.
Elgin’s offense generated 13 hits.
The Comets led 3-0 after three innings and added eight more runs in the fourth inning.
Emma Smith had the lone hit for the Gophers.
