Ohio Supreme Court Justice R. Patrick DeWine spoke to the Bellefontaine Rotary Club during their Monday meeting. The club is now meeting in-person on Mondays at BUILD Co-Work and Space in downtown Bellefontaine, 139 W. Columbus Ave. The program featured a discussion about the ins and outs of the Supreme Court, along with interesting information about a case as it traveled through the Court of Appeals system and the Ohio Supreme Court. Out of roughly 1,100 jurisdictional appeals filed in 2019, the Ohio Supreme Court only accepted about 40 cases. Justice DeWine, who began his six-year term on Jan. 2, 2017, has served at all levels of the Ohio judiciary. Prior to his election to the Supreme Court of Ohio, Justice DeWine served for four years on the First District Court of Appeals, and prior to that, for four years on the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
