Community leaders and planners soon will have definite numbers of weekend summer traffic around Indian Lake as authors of a study are wrapping up their report.
Dave Gulden, director of the Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission, said the study — conducted during July and August at eight locations around the lake — “captures the peak period around the lake without a holiday weekend.”
The idea for an Indian Lake-specific study grew out of regional transportation discussions in 2014 and 2015.
Using local and state funds, the LUC contributed its summer intern and contracted with TEC Engineering based in Dayton to collect data and prepare a report. The total cost of the man-hour intensive study is $17,100.
He is hoping to release the findings before year’s end.
