The Indian Lake High School-Ohio Hi-Point FFA Chapter is celebrating several recent successes.
Indian Lake High School sophomore Sierra DeWeese recently placed sixth in the state in the Ohio FFA Prepared Public Speaking Contest. She presented her original speech on food borne illnesses virtually. Sierra took first place at the FFA District Prepared Public Speaking Contest a few weeks ago.
In addition, the ILHS Freshmen FFA Class excelled in the State Greenhand Quiz administered in early March. The team placed eighth out of more than 130 teams across Ohio.
The top four scorers were Annie Braig, who placed seventh overall, Seth Thornburgh, Savannah Hill and Ava Shroyer. This is the highest the ILHS-OHP FFA Chapter has ever placed in the annual contest.
Finally, ILHS graduates and FFA alumni Kaden Harford and Nikita Scheifele have been named finalists in their proficiency areas. Scheifele qualified in the Agri-Science Animal Division, while Harford qualified in both the Grain and Fiber/Oil Crop Divisions.
They will interview later this month and find out their projects’ final standings during the State FFA Convention at the end of April.
