Kyle Richardson, 18, at large, was charged Friday with possession of heroin, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia and served a warrant for failure to appear.
At 7:15 p.m., officers responded to Community Markets, 309 N. Main St., on a report of two males shooting up heroin. When confronted, both denied abusing drugs.
The department’s canine unit responded and conducted a check on the vehicle and the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics.
A search found heroin, hypodermic syringes, clear capsules and a spoon.
Richardson was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Dog owner, girlfriend charged
Bradley W. Johnston, 32, of 420 E. Auburn Ave., was charged Sunday for having howling or incessant barking dogs while Tracci Sue Ritter, 34, of the same address, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct.
At 12:10 a.m., officers were at the home on a report of dogs barking. Johnston had previously been warned about the dogs barking twice before, incident reports noted.
Officers met with Johnston on the front porch and issued him a summons.
Ritter then stepped out of the house and began yelling. Officers had to warn her numerous times to quit yelling and ask her several times for her name and identification. She too was issued a summons.
Motorist charged
Michael D. Bean-Breston Jr., 27, of 109 N. St. Paris St., was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He also was cited for failure to control, driving on curbs and boulevards and failure to stop after a crash.
Around 1:55 a.m., witnesses reported two male were near the Oasis Drive-Thru, 406 S. Main St., after hearing sounds of a crash in the area.
Officers met with the driver and learned he had been southbound. His sport utility vehicle had hit a pole near Patterson Avenue and was leaking fluids.
During the conversation, officers noted a strong odor of alcohol and that the driver’s speech was slow, thick and slurred.
Field sobriety tests were initiated but stopped when the motorist declined to continue. He was taken into custody and his SUV secured by an officer opening the driver’s door to lock it. The officer observed marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.
The driver was taken to the police department and asked to provide a urine sample. He declined.
Woman charged for flung bottle
Lillian K.M. Mathews, 25, of 920 Ohio St., was charged Sunday with littering and persistent disorderly conduct.
An officer was at the Beer Vault, 149 W. Columbus Ave., investigating an incident when he observed a beer bottle thrown from the front of the business into the intersection of Detroit Street and Columbus.
Several witnesses identified her as the culprit. She was not forthcoming with her personal identification, officers report, and she was taken into custody but later released to a sober friend.
Driver cited in crash
Cassie N. Jamison, 34, of Urbana, was cited for failure to maintain assured distance ahead after a four-vehicle crash behind Wednesday on Main Street at Gunntown Road.
At 11:05 a.m., she was northbound in a van and traveled across the lane markers striking a car operated by Jeffrey M. Schulman, 69, of Ada; a sport utility vehicle operated by John E. Marshall, 66, of Belle Center, and truck operated by Tate M. Mobley, 19, of Rushsylvania.
Jamison was transported by a Bellefontaine to Mary Rutan Hospital while Marshall was transported by a Robinaugh squad to MRH for treatment of their injuries.
Damage was heavy to the van and moderate to the car and SUV.
