North Main Eye Care, 1008 N. Main St., has ceased its business relationship with a customer that reportedly coughed at and spit in the direction of an employee that attempted to enforce the store’s COVID-19 mask requirement.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to that location around 12:30 p.m. Friday in reference to the altercation that had actually occurred about 3 p.m. the day before, Thursday, July 9.
A customer, upset over being told to wear a mask inside the business, coughed in the face of an employee, and the 22-year-old female employee told officers that saliva hit her in the face as the customer attempted to forcefully cough on her.
A written statement was obtained and will be submitted to the Logan County Health Department.
The victim reportedly did not want to seek criminal charges, and North Main Eye Care intended to contact the customer and discontinue their relationship with the business.
