Gary M. Smith, 64, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 26, 2021, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Gary was born in Bellefontaine on January 30, 1957, to the late Gary Maxwell and Dorothy Pearl (Poland) Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother William Lewis Smith and sister Barb Searle Hone.
Gary is survived by his wife Lesa Nolan Smith. He is also survived by children: Nickie (Matt) Downing of Bellefontaine, Deborah (Adam) Conley of Conover, Gena (Michael) Francis of Cincinnati, Randi Miller Smith of Newark, Shawn (Tonya) Richardson of DeGraff, and Kenneth Jones of Bellefontaine; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Dick Smith of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary worked for 31 years at Detroit Aluminum & Brass and retired as an Assistant Supervisor and group leader of the rolling mills. He was a former member of the AmVets and the Eagles. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed fishing and had previously done martial arts.
Bishop Jason Miller will officiate Gary’s funeral service on Thursday, December 30, at 1 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.
