Frances Jean Miller, 88, of Russells Point, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Sept. 17, 2016, at her home.
She was born July 23, 1928, in Lima, to the late Carl and Goldie Burkett Hull.
On Dec. 7, 1948, she married William Dee Miller at Trinity Methodist Church in Lima. They divorced June 15, 1979, and he survives in Briney Breezes, FLa., and Linden, Mich.
She also is survived by two children, Michael Dee Miller of Russells Point and Pamela K. (Ray) Schilling of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Troy Michael Miller of Russells Point, Sabrina (Travis) Voll of Grove Port and Patricia and Calvin Cummings, both of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one great-grandchild, Victoria Voll; a sister, Mary Jo Wallace; and special friends, Donna Craig, Jennifer Predmore, Bridget Eagy and Susan Snyder.
She was a graduate of Lima Central High School and a member of Indian Lake Community Church, several bridge clubs and was a Shriner for many years.
She lived through the Great Depression, the Golden Era of Indian Lake, and was part of the Greatest American Generation ever. She was well known around Indian Lake having been co-owner of the BP Gas Station in Russells Point during the early 1960s, Moore and Miller Associates starting mid 1960s, worked at Schuler Marina for many years and was the owner of a 1967 Mustang and 1983 Camaro.
Jean helped start and promote the Indian Lake Boat Show for many years and helped start and build Leppich baseball field in Russells Point.
Jean loved to dance to the Big Bands at Indian Lake and loved being with family and friends, boating, snowmobiling, playing cards and she enjoyed fine dining at O’Connor’s, Wicker’s Resort, Channel Light Inn, Beach Club, Pickering’s Red Bird Inn, L&K, Aunt Millie’s, formerly Arrow Head Restaurant, Pickering’s in Lakeview and especially the Ark Restaurant. Jean was a fixture on Friday nights at Antonio’s with her good friends, Yvonne Ling and Martha Van Horn.
She was a loving mom to Hermes the cat and dogs, Penny, Blackie and Romeo.
Graveside services were conducted at Huntsville Cemetery through arrangements by Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where condolences may be expressed at www.shoffstallfuneralhome.com.
