SCHNEIDER |
Former Indian Lake softball standout Gina Schneider has been selected for induction into the Ohio Dominican University sports Hall of Fame.
Schneider, who was a first-team All-American for the ODU softball team in 2006, will be inducted along with three others during a banquet Friday, Oct. 6. The inductees will also be introduced at halftime of the homecoming football game the following day.
“This is a special group of individuals and we are honored to induct them into the Hall of Fame,” said ODU athletic director Jeff Blair, a Bellefontaine High School graduate. “They meant so much to the growth of this athletic department and university and are terrific ambassadors of Ohio Dominican. We can’t wait to have them back on campus and inducted into the Hall of Fame.”
After a stellar prep career for the Lakers, Schneider rewrote the softball record book at ODU. She is the school’s record holder in career home runs (33), RBI (166), doubles (56), total bases (384) and slugging percentage (.631).
In addition to her All-American honor in 2006, she was also named the American Mideast Conference player of the year that season. She batted .521 with 19 home runs, 17 RBI and 24 doubles. She set single-season school records in all of those categories.
Schneider earned all-region honors in all four seasons with the Panthers and was a three-time first-team all-AMC selection.
