Fencing will be erected around the unfinished Indian Lake EMS Joint Ambulance District station and loose building materials will be covered and preserved ahead of winter, the building committee said Wednesday during a regular board meeting.
Valley Fencing of West Liberty will install approximately 428 feet of fence around the outside of the unsecured building at the corner of Oak and Stephenson streets in Lakeview, which is across the street from the existing Indian Lake EMS station.
The fence will stand approximately 12 feet tall, and will include a gate for access in and out, said Jim Reed, who got the quote for fencing, and has been among the local residents helping get the EMS district’s administration in order in recent months.
The fence will cost $3,000 to install, and about $1,500 to take down, but Valley Fencing will allow the EMS district to rent the materials and leave the fence up as long as necessary rent free, Mr. Reed said.
Tarps that had been used to cover blocks and building materials have frayed and are no longer useful, and the board is looking into more heavy-duty cover for those materials in an effort to preserve them for later use.
