Charity basketball game raises funds for handicap-accessible playground
If fundraising continues like the fast breaks in Wednesday night’s charity basketball game, a city park could have its first handicap-accessible playground in no time at all.

Members of the Logan County Braves — the local Special Olympians — teamed up with personnel from the Bellefontaine police and fire departments, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol in a scrimmage game that raised money for special playground equipment that will be installed at Blue Jacket Park.
The event, which also included a monetary head-to-head between Bellefontaine’s Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, raised at least $1,200, Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities Community First Facilitator Kelli Bader reported. The Kiwnanis earned bragging rights with members and supporters contributing $301.25 to Rotary’s $259.
“This was amazing — a very overwhelming response and a great community effort,” she said of the event, noting that they are already planning a similar softball scrimmage for later in the spring.
