Evelyn “Eddie” Dill, 86, formerly of East Liberty passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Green Hills in West Liberty.
Born Sept. 7, 1930, in Bellefontaine, she was a daughter of the late Irvie Melvin and Alma Lee Jacobs Herford. On Jan. 2, 1953, in Richmond, Ind., she married her husband of more than 50 years, Robert D. Dill and he passed away July 8, 2003. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Dill; brothers, Morris, Leo, Herman, Kenneth and Melvin Herford; and sisters, Ruth Houchin, Pauline Snyder and Phyllis Hartle.
A 1948 graduate of East Liberty High School, she and her husband owned and operated Bob’s Meat Market for 35 years and she also worked as a cook for 15 years with the Benjamin Logan School District. Eddie attended the East Liberty Church of Christ and was a member of Rebekah Lodge 501 in Mechanicsburg. She enjoyed harness racing, traveling to Lexington with the Urbana Senior Citizens, watching high school and college basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, but most of all, she cherished her time spent with her family.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Rose of East Liberty and Belinda (Paul) Tracey of East Liberty; grandchildren, Tarra Tracey, Brian Tracey, Dameon (Heather) Jones, Payton Rose and Jonathan Rose; great-grandchildren, Grace and Elizabeth Deardurff; sister, Juanita Hone of West Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per Evelyn’s wishes, no calling hours o services will be held at this time. A celebration of life service will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at the East Liberty Lodge.
