A free emergency planning meeting specifically geared for the churches of Logan County and area businesses is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center auditorium.
The meeting will help participants better understand the importance of developing and implementing emergency plans and procedures to protect people and property if a disaster strikes. Well thought out emergency response plans and trained personnel are important tools that should not be ignored, organizers said.
Helen Norris, Logan County Emergency Management Agency director, will speak about preparing for and dealing with natural disasters in ways that minimize the damage to people and property.
Jonathan Havens, a manager of security for Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, a multi-campus church of about 9,000 in Columbus, will address how to prepare for and deal with human-caused tragedies and ways to prevent or minimize such events. Havens has more than 21 years of training and experience providing personal protection and overseeing security for people and infrastructure. He also is a consultant for numerous houses of worship in Columbus.
No pre-registration is required for the public session.
