Eleanor Ballinger, 81, of Kenton, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Services Facility in Lima.
She was born in Kenton to the late Arthur L. and Gladys Jones Ballinger and never married.
She is survived by several cousins and her dear friends, Robert (Joan) White, Nancy Stansbery and Jolene Hamm.
A 1953 graduate of Kenton High School, she was telephone operator at Mid Continent for 25 years and retired from Hardin Memorial Hospital where she was a switchboard operator for 25 years.
She was a member of the Rhinehart United Methodist Church for several years and also attended the St. Johns United Church of Christ.
Eleanor was very active in several other organizations including Painter Creek Grange where she was a member for more than 60 years and achieved seventh degree, and the Compromise Community Club, the Jolly Circle Club and The Red Hat Ladies.
She donated her body to The Ohio State University Anatomical Department in order to help progress research and learning. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date through arrangements by Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hardin County Humane Society and charities of the donors’ choices.
