Mildred A. Hiler, 83, of New Washington, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family, which includes a daughter, Marsha (Mike) Bowsher of Bellefontaine.
She was born Sept. 23, 1933, in Bismark, to the late Walter and Rose Miller Brown. She was a graduate of Bellevue High School and then worked briefly at the former General Electric plant in Bellevue.
She married Glade A. Hiler on Oct. 23, 1954, and he also survives. She worked with him on the family farm and raised their family. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the New Washington American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and also enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling and playing cards. We have lost a wife, mother, grandmother and friend who fought cancer as long and as hard as she could. We will not ever say cancer won, it just outlasted her.
Also surviving are children, Mike (Diana) Hiler of Dublin, Tim Hiler of St. Johns, Fla., Allen (Kim) Hiler of Shelby, Trish (Kevin) Carney of Marengo and Randy (Roxanne) Hiler of New Washington; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Justine Wise of Tiffin.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Services and burial were conducted Dec. 20 in New Washington.
