William J. Piriczky, 48, of 5692 State Route 274, Rushsylvania, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to an incident about 9 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4149 State Route 287, West Liberty, to a report of a vehicle that had caused damage in the caller’s yard.
Upon arrival, deputies observed Piriczky walking in front of the residence, and observed an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He told deputies at first that he had consumed two drinks that evening, but later admitted it was probably closer to six to seven beers.
Deputies also located his pickup at the bottom of a hill in a side yard at the property and noticed that the vehicle was surrounded by ruts in the ground.
He submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for OVI.
The property owners, Nick and Nancy McGuire, reported hearing a vehicle revving its engine in attempt of getting unstuck from the soft ground of their yard. Mrs. McGuire said she then observed the driver continuing to drive around their yard, causing more damage.
A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the vehicle, which had sunken into the ground up to its frame.
The defendant was transported to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, and he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.188. Deputies said he then reportedly vomited on the floor of the BAC test room for several minutes. He also was cited for failure to control.
