Suspected narcotics were recovered Monday from the scene of a traffic conducted by officers of the Washington Township Police Department along U.S. Route 33, east of Lincoln Boulevard.
Officers observed a white Chevy van cross the center line into oncoming traffic before correcting and continuing westbound into Russells Point, and initiated a traffic stop.
Officers observed suspected suspicious behavior of the driver, Dustin Smith, 33, of Columbus, and K9 Bruno was deployed to the scene.
The K9 alerted on the vehicle. Officers conducted a search and located a pill bottle containing orange pills identified as Dextroampheyamine, an amphetamine, which is a schedule 2 controlled substance.
Smith was arrested and transported to Logan County Jail. A criminal history check revealed Smith to have prior drug convictions. Smith was charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
