Zanesfield Village Council members unanimously approved at their Monday evening meeting a motion for Jake Rose to fill the vacant council seat.
Members said Rose attended the meeting to express his interest in serving on the council and also presented some his ideas and how he would like to help the village.
He was appointed for the vacant seat, with a term expiring Dec. 12, 2021.
Also at the meeting, members approved a motion to hire a tree service to remove a tree within the village, not to exceed $950.
In addition, the Zanesfield Chamber of Commerce hosts caroling in the village the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 15, with participants meeting in the Firehouse Pizza parking lot at 5:30 p.m.
This year, organizers are accepting donations for the Lighthouse Homeless Shelter, either through monetary donations or other items needed, such as Clorox wipes, dish soap, laundry soap, fabric softener, bath soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo and conditioner.
The council also discussed street signs, Christmas wreaths, and upcoming ideas for 2021.
Members approved fiscal officer Heather Clapsaddle to prepare the budget for 2021 and a motion to pay the bills, totaling $3,586.16.
The next meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, which will include the annual organizational meeting followed by a regular meeting.
