Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department recovered two hypodermic syringes, a folded up dollar bill containing methamphetamine and a opiate treatment drug strip from the floor of a parked car on Thursday.
The car owner told officers he had been working on repairing the headliner and left the windows open while it was parked in the 500 block of west Williams Avenue.
He left to attend a funeral and returned in the evening to resume working on the headliner. He found the drugs and his girlfriend’s mother called the police.
The drugs were seized for destruction while the syringes were disposed of in a sharps container at the department.
Cash register stolen
Aaron E. Wright, 516 Jay Ave., reported Thursday morning a cash register, new its box, was stolen from 521 Jay Ave. He told officers he is clearing out the residence to prepare for sale. He had to leave the residence unlocked overnight as there were keys to lock and unlock the doors.
