The Lewistown Association invites the residents of Washington Township to attend a Meet the Candidates/Discuss the Issues public forum at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Village of Russells Point Municipal Building, 433 State Route 708, Russells Point.
The forum will introduce four candidates running for the position of township trustee in the November election and three tax issues that will appear on the ballot as well.
Washington Township trustee candidates are Jason Faulder, Tucker Berg, Rick Beck and Kevin Barth, running for two available seats.
The following officials will be available to answer questions about upcoming tax levies as well:
• Logan County Engineer Scott Coleman, proposed renewal levy for Logan County sales and use tax.
• Tammy Nicholl, proposed replacement tax levy, Mental Health & Drug and Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties.
• Chief Josh Strayer, proposed renewal and decrease of current tax levy, Indian Lake Joint Ambulance District.
The Lewistown Association is working to unify the community and make strides toward coordinating new family events and partnerships that will foster a “neighbors helping neighbors” culture.
“We feel this begins with giving the community an opportunity to become involved in the process of local government,” association representatives said.
