Elliott Road, Buckeye Street to be repaved
An ordinance that would have loosened the requirements for property owners installing new driveways failed a first reading Monday in a regular meeting of the Russells Point council.
Council voted down a measure that would have permitted residential and commercial property owners to install gravel driveways.
An existing ordinance enacted in 1981 requires property owners within the village to put down asphalt or concrete-surface driveways.
Different councils have batted around the idea of updating that ordinance to permit gravel driveways. Proposed changes to that ordinance had been in the rules committee as recently as 2013, according to council.
