Tisha R. Sullivan, 49, of 100 Terrence Drive, Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop Thursday evening on State Route 292.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 8:40 p.m. near County Road 296 observed her vehicle stopped about 50 to 60 feet from a stop sign at the intersection.
Deputies noticed that the driver also had her head down and initiated a traffic stop for parking in the roadway.
While speaking with Sullivan, deputies noted that she showed signs of impairment and there was an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Deputies also reportedly observed an open can of beer in her center console.
She declined to participate in field sobriety tests and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she also refused to take a breath test. Deputies said Sullivan also had two prior OVI convictions in 2010 and 2012.
The defendant was also cited for having an open container in a motor vehicle, stopping in the roadway and driving under an administrative license suspension.
Semi strikes low-hanging wires
Deputies responded about 1:50 p.m. Monday to S.R. 292 near County Road 191 on a report of a semi tractor-trailer that struck low-hanging cable wires.
Howard S. Denson, 49, of Springfield, reportedly was operating a southbound semi when the top of his vehicle struck the overhead cable wires.
Denson stated after striking the wires, he pulled to the side of the road and attempted to stop a northbound John Deere tractor with tiller blades attached that was about to strike the cable wires. However, he said the tractor struck the cable wires and snapped them in two, and then continued northbound, with the tractor operator apparently unaware of what had happened.
Deputies said the semi appeared to be within size regulations for the roadway, and no citations were issued. No damage was reported to the semi.
