A Bellefontaine High School junior/senior team made up of Levon Howard, Connor Rose, Micah Woolf, and Zane Warren recently placed second in state at the TEAMS (Test of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science) competition, including a first place finish in the design and build and a third place finish in the essay competition.
Three other BHS teams also participated. Freshman/sophomore team members Oliver Moreland, Will Smith and Neil Kauffman finished third in the state, including a third place in the both the multiple choice and essay competition.
The essay required the students to research an engineering-related topic; this year involving production and use of robotics in manufacturing. The design and build portion required the students to work to solve a problem with limited materials.
Finally, there was a multiple-choice test involving problem solving in engineering-related scenarios.
Other students competing were Evan Kauffman, Olivia Eader, Leeah Kuhn, Milah Hunt, placing seventh in the state and Ben Parson, Dawson Roberts, Justin Carper and Cam Kline. Their coaches are Nate Arbogast and Kristy Mount
