Cassie Langle, 24, Lewistown, was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and speed related to an incident Friday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 33 and Township Road 94 stopped her vehicle for traveling 86 in a 55 mph zone. Upon making contact with Langle, officers observed a loaded firearm in plain view in her vehicle. Cassie stated that she did not have a permit for the firearm.
She was subsequently placed under arrest and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Alexander Varian, 45 of Mason, W.Va., was charged with possession of a controlled substance and expired registration during a traffic stop about 4:15 p.m. Friday.
Officers on patrol in the area of State Route 708 and County Road 61 stopped his vehicle for an expired registration. When officers initiated the traffic stop, Varian immediately exited the vehicle and took off walking away from officers. He was ordered back to the vehicle.
Varian consented to a search of his person and suboxone medication was found in his pocket. He did not have a prescription for the suboxone. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
OVI arrests reported
Washington Township officers logged the following arrests for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the holiday weekend:
• Daniel Dodds, 42, of 4431 N. U.S. Route 68, Bellefontaine, was charged with OVI, expired operator’s license and fictitious license plates during a Thanksgiving Day traffic stop about 1:10 a.m.
Officers observed a vehicle traveling on the roadway without headlights and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle at county roads 37 and 54 in Lewistown. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. Dodds submitted to a blood alcohol content test, and tested 0.154. Dodds was lodged in the Logan County jail .
• Daniel Nicol, 34 of Marysville, was charged with OVI and speed during a traffic stop about 2:15 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 33 and Township Road 94.
His vehicle was stopped for traveling 65 in a 55 mph zone. Upon making contact with the driver, signs of impairment were observed. He submitted to field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest for OVI. He was transported to the jail, where he refused a breath test.
• Michael Vogler, 52, of Lakeview, was charged with OVI and received a marked lanes citation related to a traffic stop about 6:50 p.m. Friday on State Route 235 at County Road 91.
Officers observed a his vehicle driving in an unsafe manner, weaving in and out of marked lanes. The driver displayed signs of impairment during the stop and also failed field sobriety tests. He was transported to the jail.
