Doris H. (Allen) Davis, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away in her sleep on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the Jubilee Assisted Living Facility in Weston, Florida.
She was born in Bowling Green Township, near La Rue, on April 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Lester F. and Hazel (Retterer) Allen.
On July 19, 1952, she married the late John W. Davis in Richmond, Indiana. She is survived by a son, William (Linda) of Cooper City, Florida: a daughter, Dr. Rebecca Davis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren: Cameron, Maria, Gabrielle, Bradley, Charles, Kimberley, and Brook; seven great-grandchildren: Cody, Luke, Alex, Noelle, Maxwell, Roan, and Oliver.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: Sam, Bill, John, Donald, and Jim Allen, and one sister, Mary (Allen) Foos.
Doris was a 1948 graduate of La Rue High School. She was a member of the New Salem Lutheran Church where both William and Becky were baptized. She was a devoted homemaker and volunteered for many of her children’s activities in which they participated including sports and yearly Science competitions. Early in their marriage and after starting a family, Doris and John moved often as John’s work took them out of state on numerous occasions. They finally settled in Logan County, buying a farm on St Rt 540 when the children became school age.
A private graveside service, conducted by Jason Robson, will be July 23, 2022, at the Zanesfield Cemetery, where she be laid to rest, “gone to be with her partner, John.”
