Charlotte Meryl Focht Hatfield, 104, of Rushsylvania, OH, formerly of Waynesfield, OH, went to Heaven on July 19, 2022.
She was born on March 2, 1918, on the family farm, a daughter of the late Floyd and Hazel Morris Focht. She was the last remaining Focht of several brothers and sisters, Ray, Fred, Ruth Georgia, Eileen, Virginia and Lena. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter. She married the love of her life, William Richard Hatfield, in Roundhead, OH on January 31, 1940, and he preceded her in death. His mother told her, you may never be a millionaire, but you will have love, adventure, and laughter, and she did. She lived her life loving the Lord.
She loved and enjoyed life with her family, Pamela (William) Wreede and Richard Michael (Sonya) Hatfield. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. One of her great-great grandchildren was named after her which made her so happy and proud. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Beverly Focht, and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved all dearly.
Charlotte had beautiful love lines on her face from all the love she had for everyone. She lived most of her life in Waynesfield and graduated from Waynesfield High School. She was a lifelong member of Waynesfield United Methodist Church, where you could hear her beautiful voice in the choir. Charlotte worked at the family grocery, Hatfield Market in Waynesfield, and at Fisher Cheese in Wapakoneta, where she retired. Charlotte’s hobbies included oil painting, knitting, and flower gardening. She also loved to camp, going to Florida, and traveling. She had visited every state including Hawaii and Alaska. Charlotte’s family would like to thank the staff of Interim Hospice for their care and compassion.
Reverend Glory Geib will begin funeral services at 11 am, Tuesday, July 26, at Waynesfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday, July 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m., all at the church. Burial is in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield.
Memorial Contributions may be given in Charlotte’s memory to Waynesfield United Methodist Church or Interim Hospice.
