David “Dave” Lee Kauffman, 74, of Bellefontaine, was taken by God on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Sept. 14, 1942, to the late Howard J. and Elda Mae Hughes Kauffman and was also preceded in death by sisters, Donna Bishop, Ann Strickler and Connie Sue Kauffman; and brother, Jim Kauffman.
On June 23, 1963, in Rushsylvania, he married Linda Sheeley Kauffman and she survives along with children; Fawn Kauffman and Jim Tina Kauffman, both of Bellefontaine; three grandchildren, Jessica (Josh) Swisher, Paul Henline and Pfc. Matt Henline; two great-grandchildren, Mikal and Bryanna Ravenscraft; and his longtime friend, Butch Lenhart.
Dave, along with his son Jim, are owner and operators of Kauffman Tire and Supply and he also was bus mechanic supervisor for Bellefontaine City Schools. He was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School Class of 1960, served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Vulcan, was Director of Logan County Fish and Game and chief instructor of its hunter safety course, held offices in the Ohio Bus Mechanics Association.
In his younger years, he enjoyed running drag race cars. He enjoyed fishing on his pontoon boat with his family.
