Officers of the Russells Point Police Department reported two crashes Friday.
Shelby N. Higgins, 17, of Ada, was charged with failure to yield after she pulled into the path of a vehicle operated by Bruce Gaddis, 64, of Lakeview, at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and Sunnyside Avenue about 5:30 p.m., officers of the Russells Point Police Department report.
Shelby was eastbound on U.S. 33 when she attempted to turn left and was struck in the passenger side.
Officers detected an odor of alcohol from Mr. Gaddis, who submitted to field sobriety tests, which indicated he was impaired. He was arrested and transported to the Logan County jail where he refused a breath test and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. It was his seventh OVI charge, officers report, dating from 1990.
No injuries were reported to the drivers or the two minor passengers in each vehicle.
Washington Township P.D., Indian Joint Fire District and Indian Lake EMS assisted at the scene.
