Eight Ottawa teens were issued summonses for underage consumption and a ninth was arrested for trying to lie about his identity after deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a loud party on Long Island.
Neighbors of Steve Unterbrink’s 9312 Maple Lane property called about a loud party and young people consuming alcohol at about 7:45 p.m. Friday.
When deputies arrived several people tried to flee the back of the home, but they were stopped and returned to the property.
The individuals were all either 18 or 19 years old and from the Ottawa area, deputies learned. During questioning, Brad Recker, 19, attempted to give a false name and age and he was taken to the Logan County Jail on an obstructing official business charge.
The remainder were issued summonses for underage consumption of alcohol. They are: Zachary Unterbrink, 19; Carly Inkrott, 18; Jessica Wehri, 19; Rebecca Kaufman, 19; Grant Hershberger, 19; Jesse Siefker, 18; Marna Hempfling, 18; and Jacob Kahle, whose 20th birthday is today.
One 19-year-old man was not believed to be drinking and was not charged.
Deputies confiscated a large quantity of alcohol from the party but the teens did not appear to be extremely intoxicated, deputies report.
