A Logan County native was among dozens of newly minted law enforcement officers recognized Friday in a virtual graduation ceremony from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Cameron L. Parker of Belle Center was one of 42 troopers recognized as part of the 167th Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy Class.
Parker, a 2015 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School, will be based out of the Xenia patrol post. Prior to attending the patrol academy, he studied law enforcement at Rhodes State College.
Graduates were set to report to their posts Sunday, and undergo 70 working days of field-training under the guidance of a veteran officer. New graduates are assigned to 24 of the patrol’s 59 posts.
Graduating officers completed 30 weeks of intensive training, consisting of crash investigation; criminal and traffic law; detection of impaired drivers; firearms; physical fitness; self-defense; and emergency vehicle operations.
