Clara Lucille “Luci” Schiller Holloway, 88, of Marysville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Memorial Gables.
She was a longtime associate of Nestle Quality Assurance Laboratory in Marysville and Dublin. She attended Caldwell United Methodist Church and was a former member of East Liberty and Marysville United Methodist Churches. She was a 1947 graduate of Springfield Township High School in Mahoning County. Upon graduation, she traveled to Kansas City where she became a stewardess for TWA. She later attended Ohio University where she met her late husband, Jay. Luci was a musician since the age of five and enjoyed singing in church choir, participating in community musical events and playing the organ and piano at her three churches in addition to serving as a substitute pianist at Raymond United Methodist Church. She also accompanied and chaperoned her own children’s school choirs as needed.
She was a member of the Emmaus Community and volunteered musically for the Epiphany Outreach. Above all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Mahoning County to the late Clark and Lucy Vincent Schiller. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Jay Curtis Holloway; two sons, Joel Craig and Jay Curtis “Curt” Holloway II; her siblings, Earl, Kenneth, Raymond and Clarence Schiller and Esther James; sons-in-law, Ray Rice and Terry Hammond; and her brother- and sister-in-law, John and Dot Holloway.
She is survived by her children, Jack (Shirley) Holloway of Huber Heights, Sue (Phil Davis) Rice of Moberly, Mo., Randy (Susan) Holloway of Plain City, Jayne Hammond of Fairlawn and Beth (Brent) Heflin of Raymond; a daughter-in-law, Viki Holloway of Marysville; her grandchildren, Dennis (Tina), Susie (John), Jessica (Chris), Jim, Sara, Susan (Matt), Sandy, Tara, Megan, Joey, Adam, Peggy, Charlie (Sarah), Josh (Megan), Brandy and Amanda; her great-grandchildren, Adam, Brandon, Jake, Corianne, Dominic, Jim, Victor, Christopher, Jennifer and Morgan; a great-great-grandson, KeAndre; her sister-in-law, Betty Schiller of Petersburg, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends, including her longtime companion and caregiver, Jo Zahn
Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville, where funeral services begin at noon Monday, Sept. 10, with calling one hour prior. The Revs. Sara McSwords and Dr. Georgianna Rymer officiate. Burial follows at York Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Gables Activity Department.
