Bernard R. “Bernie” Beair, 73, of DeGraff, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
He was born in Sandusky County on June 23, 1945, to the late Ferdinand and Josephine Hazel Madden Beair.
A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, Bernard worked as a truck driver for more than 30 years. He enjoyed being with his grandkids, family, and friends, riding and driving his horses and camping at Great Miami River Riding Association in Port Jefferson.
Bernard is survived by his daughter, Katherine (Don) Wanamaker of Pennsylvania; a son, Bernard Roy Beair Jr. of Pennsylvania; stepchildren, Jeannette (Patrick) Coon and Carol Fraunfelter, both of Harrod, Cherie (Keith) Shields of Mt. Victory, Ronald (Patricia) Vermillion and Matthew (Ninfa) Vermillion, both of Wisconsin, and Barb (Dallas) Fronheir and Donald Beair, both of Pennsylvania; his previous wife, Mary Beair, of DeGraff and Patricia Beair of Pennsylvania; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret (Pete) Brown of Urbana, Ruth (Mike) Lane of Lima and Peggy Parker of Springhills; four brothers, Larry Beair and Jack (Karen) Beair, both of Bellefontaine, Jerry (Candy) Beair of Sidney and Fred Beair of Lakeview; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Beair; and a brother, Jesse Beair.
A funeral service begins at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where calling begins at 11 a.m.
Burial follows in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
