A local opportunity for senior citizens to glean insights and helpful information into protecting their personal health and safety is approaching later this month.
The Bellefontaine Police Department hosts a Senior Health and Safety Fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Logan County Friendly Senior Center, 934 S. Main St., with doors opening at 12:30 p.m.
Bellefontaine Police Department Chief Brandon Standley urged anyone ages 55 and older to attend.
“Our goal is to share important information that sometimes seniors don’t even know about, or they are maybe unsure of where to look,” he said. “We will be partnering with approximately 25 local community partners that will have tables set up to share their particular vision for seniors.”
From 1 to 2 p.m., a variety of guest speakers are planned. The Bellefontaine Police Department will open the session to discuss various topics, followed by featured guests from the Elder Justice Unit of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s Office, and then finishing up with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office. Each speaker will speak for approximately 15 minutes, followed with time for questions, the police chief said.
The entire time, from 1 to 3 p.m., guests can explore each table and speak to the community partners.
“We feel this can be an annual event to assist our seniors with critically important information. We believe it will grow quickly,” Chief Standley said.
