Father/daughter blood donor duo West Liberty-Salem Superintendent Kraig Hissong and Cathryn Hissong hold a plaque that the district received Feb. 28 from the Community Blood Center. The school district received Red Cord Award for the number of students who are repeat donors. According to the CBC website, students who register to donate blood three or more times during their high school career earn a Red Cord to wear during graduation events. The program recognizes students for their commitment to providing life-saving donations to the community blood supply. The WL-S National Honor Society Chapter partnered with Community Blood Center for the Feb. 28 annual blood drive Students and teachers registered for the event and even with the two hour delay made sure to rearrange schedules to give back.
