Belle Center Village Administrator Gerald Houchin got his first raise in about 20 years and four other employees will see 50-cents-an-hour bumps in their pay after council approved new pay rates at this week’s meeting.
The village administrator position will now pay $8,000 a year.
Meanwhile full-time employee John Linson saw a raise to $17.75 an hour, while Frank Harrod and Darren Savage will now receive $14.50 an hour. A temporary employee position now filled by Travis Hower also got an additional 50 cents an hour, Mayor Teresa Johnston reports.
Mr. Hower was also assigned to work weekend hours at the water plant while Mr. Savage will assume a Monday to Friday schedule, the mayor said.
Council approved a resolution to increase the sewer credits for 16 utility customers who allow the village to connect to their electric meters to operate sewer grinder pumps. The previous credit was $4 a month, but Mayor Johnston said an analysis of meters paid by the village show the average rate to operate the pumps to be in excess of $12 a month.
Council agreed to increase the utility customer credits to $12 a month.
