DEMPSEY |
Jacklyn Dempsey, 58, of Crystal River, Fla., was charged with assault, obstructing official business and resisting arrest related to an incident Saturday evening at Mimi’s at the Lake, 138 E. Main St., Russells Point.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department were dispatched about 7:45 p.m. to the restaurant in reference to an altercation between customers.
When they arrived on scene, they learned George Stephenson of Russells Point had been punched in the face by another patron.
Witnesses reported Dempsey allegedly was harassing Stephenson and threatening to cut his beard. At some point, a man associated with Dempsey came out and reportedly punched Stephenson in the face and then fled on foot.
The defendant, who was visibly intoxicated, also reportedly stole another customer’s glass of wine.
When officers approached Dempsey, she refused to cooperate, would not identify herself and would not move from her seat. Officers and others took several minutes to reason with her, but she refused to cooperate.
Eventually she was placed under arrest and officers attempted to escort her off the property. The defendant resisted repeatedly and banged her head on the inside of the patrol car. She was transported to the Logan County Jail.
